It's Christmas day on Bondi and road weary travellers, local families, and Christmas orphans come to see Santa make an appearance. Bondi is back in all it’s glory, madness, and brilliance!
But the boys in blue wouldn’t want it any other way. If the early stages of summer are anything to go by, lifeguards Whippet, Deano, Hoppo and Box are all in for a busy season. When a man in a three-piece wedding suit (complete with tails), is found roaming the sand drinking, smoking, and harassing beachgoers he too finds himself red carded from Bondi until he is sobered up. The silly season brings all and sundry to Bondi. Police are called to escort them off the beach. With lifeguards already overstretched, two men make matters worse by pretending to drowning in front of Deano while he is doing a rescue. The dangers of the surf are also experienced by a beginner surfer from England who is washed up the rocks, breaking his ankle in two places. Immediately lifeguards begin resuscitating her.
She is pulled from the water unconscious, and not breathing. 18 year old Stephanie was swimming with friends when she hit her head on a sandbank. With so many kids and so few lifeguards it isn’t long before tragedy strikes. The Bondi summer hits overdrive when hordes of reckless teenagers pour onto the beach and into the surf. For lifeguards it’s the busiest time of the year, as they gear up for holiday crowds, heat waves, and drunken revellers.

They won’t let him sacrifice himself for the sake of the house, but struggle to come up with another plan for how to keep the house alive.As summer starts to heat up most Australians are winding down at work and getting ready to break for the year. When Tommy returns to the house, he learns of their problem and offers to fall on the ax. Chief Reilly informs the crew that the incident with Tommy isn’t helping their case of keeping the station open despite their impressive service record. Things are not much better for the station which is in danger of being shut down because of budget cuts in the city.
His daughters are awkwardly split about having their father back, but even more shocking to see is their acceptance of alcohol in their lives. However, she recognizes the value he brings to helping her raise the children and begrudgingly accepts him back. Father Mickey correctly suspects that Tommy has stolen narcotics from the hospital and dresses him down for not changing the pattern of substance abuse that got him shot in the first place.īack at home, Janet isn’t much happier to see him either, repeatedly punching him in the shoulder where he was shot. He does not get the warm greeting he expects as many of those who love him are torn by his survival. Roughly a month later, Tommy is ready to return from the hospital, but conspicuously early by a week. He sees the faces of people he was unable to save while working, but returns back to reality before anything further happens. The only problem is that Tommy doesn’t go and flashes to a burning building. The all rise from their bags to walk toward the light and greet Tommy in the process. While technically dead, Tommy has visions of a high school gym filled with the other firefighters who have died before him in body bags.
Season six of Rescue Me picks up with Tommy being transported to the hospital after being shot and flat lining in the ambulance.
